Summer has come to an end, although the weather is supposed to be in the eighties next week. Kids are starting school and I am impatiently awaiting fall. Changing leaves, hot cocoa, blankets, candles, sweaters and scarves sound amazing. The husband has to work on Labor Day and didn't get to have a long weekend like everyone else, so we decided to partake in one last adventure. About fifteen minutes from where we live is something called Jetty Island. It is a little island in the middle of Puget Sound. You can take a small ferry free of charge and head on over to enjoy the sand and water. The view is spectacular and it was just what we needed to relax and clear our heads from the hectic week we just had.
It was reallllllly windy, perfect for the kite surfers! There were so many of them out on the water! The sun was out and shinning, but the wind chill was
super cold. *Note to self, bring sweat shirts next time!*
We enjoyed a picnic, a long walk on the beach and stayed until the sun went down. On the way home we swung by a coffee stand to get some hot chocolate to warm ourselves up. It was a fun little get away from our everyday stresses. Great way to end the summer! I love all the adventures and time we spent together this summer and cannot wait to start making plans for next year.
By the way... remember that summer goal of loosing five more pounds that I had? Well, that got left behind, somewhere between s'mores, blizzards, fish & chips and all the yummy BBQ food that we had. I am four pounds away from being in the fifties. Let's see if I can get that done before Thanksgiving, when I gain it all back :)
