Fur babies

Well, we have had the girls for eight months now. It sure has been an adjustment going from no pets to two in the house. Dare I say that I wouldn't change it for the world though?

Sarah,

I wanted to re name you cow, but considering your age, you did not take kindly to a name change. Originally we were not going to bring you home, but you were bonded with your sister and had to come along. Who would have thought you would turn out to be the life of the party?! You gorge yourself when we put out wet food. You chase and attack your sister leaving her feeling venerable, causing her to hide under furniture and cower at your every move. You like to hide under blankets, actually if we do not leave a blanket out for you, we pay for it. Your mice toys are your favorite, it is fun to find them all over the house and step on them in the dark, by the way I am throwing away the pink one today as you picked out all of its stuffing. I love that you greet the husband every night when he gets home, that you like to lay on his lap, sit next to him in bed, lick his face and hands and follow him around endlessly...and that you pay me no attention. When I feed you ice cream or you smell your sisters butt you stick your tongue out in disgust, it is the funniest thing ever, just wish you didn't hate your picture being taken so I could share it with the world. When we go to the bathroom you come running in to see if you can get some attention, and you meow until you do. You like to dig your claws into our legs to get petted, unfortunately you do it to company too. I can no longer sing or host singing get togethers with our friends as you cannot stand the sound and like to attack peoples faces when they sing. American Idol night is your least favorite. You like to take the shoelaces out of our shoes and sleep with them. Oh and the blanket that you ripped all the tassels off? I really liked that...thanks.

You have brought so much joy and excitement to our house. Keep your attitude and mean looks, it give you character.

Snowball,

Tried to name you coke, but that didn't take either. My big fluffy fat kitty, you are fast approaching the twenty pound mark, just like me you are not a fan of dieting. You have a horrible case of allergies, I am constantly running after you and cleaning snot from your nose, and couch...and windows. You no longer like to clean your butt, we have to do that for you, you hate it and I am sure have plotted our deaths. You are still very skittish and really don't like when we have company over, but you are getting better. You have become more vocal and we enjoy the many meows you greet us with now. You look the cutest when you cover your eyes while napping because it is too bright out. We love when you roll over on your back so we can rub your belly, and when you meow until I put a pillow on the couch for you to lay on. Your sister is real mean to you, trust me, we get it! We don't like our sisters either ;) Sometimes you really get her back, you like to bite and choke hold her...she deserves it. You are not a fan of all the million toys we have purchased, but the strings connected to the blinds are your favorite. Please stop scratching the stairs by the way, we need those and will not be happy to replace the carpet on them.

I know life is rough, you are constantly exhausted and need your rest, but please work on cleaning your butt. Thanks

Did I just really just write letters to our cats? Wow. Never saw that coming. If you would have told me a year ago that we would have these two girls in our brand new house, leaving hair all over the place and causing a havoc, I would have told you to get lost! They really have brought us a new found love, it is nice to come home and see them anxiously waiting. I am not a fan of paying for their food or litter but understand those are necessities. I hope we have them for years to come, they make us happy...most of the time. If you are thinking of adding a fur baby to your household, please consider adopting. Our cats were without a home for one year and were treated horrible by their previous owners, I am so glad we rescued them and gave them a loving home that they deserve. Noah Animal Shelter is the amazing place that we got ours from, take a trip to your local shelter and see what they have available, you can make a difference :)
